Improving Multicultural Teams

Are you leading or are you part of a team of individuals from different countries, different cultural backgrounds? Research shows that diversity on teams is highly beneficial to creativity, effectiveness and bringing out the best in each team member. Yet, without a communally designed and shared way of relating and communicating, the team can feel disjointed and out of sync. Differences can become magnified and result in unproductive conflict, mistrust, demotivation, and the loss of skilled staff.

Team dynamics are the unconscious, psychological forces that influence the direction of a team’s behavior and performance. They’re created by the nature of the work, the personalities within the team, their working relationships, and the environment in which the team works.

Using a Team Diagnostic Assessment and research-based approach to reveal specific team strengths and challenges, we’ll set a baseline of what’s working and what’s not working. Then focus coaching and training on 14 team competencies (7 each for productivity and positivity), as gauged by the team members themselves. Using the diagnostic tool again at the end of the engagement allows us to measure progress over time.
